Escaping Winter for Paradise

There’s no better feeling than leaving behind six inches of snow and knowing that in just 24 hours, you’ll be kissed by the Caribbean sun. While winter storms slam the East Coast, the best time to visit the Bahamas is January to early March—offering warm weather (75–80°F) without large crowds.

We flew from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) with American Airlines (a quick 2.5-hour flight). A passport is required, and upon arrival, you'll fill out an immigration card with your stay details.

💰 Money tip: No need to exchange currency! The Bahamian dollar (BSD) is 1:1 with USD, and U.S. dollars are widely accepted.

Welcome to Nassau, Bahamas!

What We Did: Relaxing & Eating WELL

This trip was all about relaxation, indulging in amazing food, and enjoying the resort perks. Here’s a breakdown of our top dining experiences and some free activities at Baha Mar.

📍Cinkō Asian Latin Grill

Starting off strong with our first night dining in the Bahamas, this Asian-Latino infused restaurant cuts no corners when it comes to the ambience of the room and setting the mood for what's to come. This restaurant is also Kosher friendly, giving them the upper hand for inclusion and enjoyable dining for those with dietary restrictions.

Let’s dive in:

🥘 What we ate:

  • Bibimbap – A comforting rice bowl with perfectly fried egg & rich flavors.

  • Crispy Grilled Salmon Roll – Sushi lovers, this one's fresh, crunchy, and a must-try.

  • Carnitas de Pollo – Juicy, flavorful chicken tacos with a fusion twist.

📍Stix Noodle Bar

Continuing on our Asian-Caribbean infusion, Stix Noodle Bar offers belly warming noodles with fresh Bahamian ingredients. With comfort finds such as potstickers, dim sum, spring rolls and more to offer, let's dive into what we had!

🍜 What we ate:

  • Thai Boat Noodles – Tender braised beef & spicy broth—perfectly comforting.

  • Black Pepper Beef Udon – Rich, savory, and satisfying (great for leftovers!).

  • Drunken Noodles – A spicy, flavor-packed favorite that left us wobbling to bed.

Though a lot of the dishes served here are spicy, they are more than happy to accommodate to your spice level preferences!

📍Café Madeline

This Parisian café that offers indoor and outdoor seating while serving up fresh pastries, sandwiches, Mojo coffee and more. Whether you’re an early riser, snooze button hitter, or no alarm at all, they serve up for breakfast, lunch and dinner giving you the chance at any time to dine in and sip like your in Paris.

🥐 What we ate:

  • Sweet Potato & Bacon Hash – A filling & deliciously balanced dish.

  • Croque Madame – A classic French sandwich, done right!

📍Marcus Fish & Chop House

Created by the amazing Food Network chef Marcus Samuelsson himself, just his reputation alone should signify a delectable meal at hand to end your Bahamian vacation with a punch. Located right on the beach with outside dining, you’ll be able to enjoy your last night on beautiful blue water and white sand.

🍽 What we ate:

  • Marcus Cornbread – Served warm with whipped butter—simple, yet heavenly.

  • Spaghetti Piccadilly – Fresh lobster & crab in a light shellfish butter sauce.

  • Baked Seafood Mac & Cheese (Chef’s Special of the Day) – Loaded with shrimp, lobster, and crab, baked to perfection.

  • Baked Pork chops & Truffle White Potatoes (Chef’s Special of the Day) - Tender falling of the pork chops reduced in a silky gravy, served with fluffy mashed potatoes.

  • Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream – The perfect sweet ending.

💡 Pro tip: Save this restaurant for your last night! The beachfront dining makes for an unforgettable farewell meal.
